You may have guessed already what is coming … Christmas! Christmas is on its way. The past couple of weeks when I have been to the supermarkets and other stores they have had Christmas items in. It’s mostly the tins of chocolates and biscuits, but the other day I took my friend to a warehouse place to look at wedding items and they had a whole Christmas section, a few Halloween items but not much in comparison to the Christmas isles.
Hello my lovelies,
I’m sure if you follow me on Facebook then you may already have seen this but as I have recently moved house, this has also meant having a brand new studio. Guess What?? …… It is complete! Wooop. I’m so excited to share it with you. My dad is super amazing, truly the best in the whole wide world. It was mostly my dad that did a lot of the work to make what was a garden shed into my beautiful studio, not only my dad though one of my older brothers did all the electrics for me. I can honestly say I am truly lucky to have such an amazing family.
Well, what can I say … Julie and Nigel booked in for their pre-wedding portrait photography session as their wedding day is approaching. When we booked in the session, we had a list of different locations that were possible and lovely places for portraits. In the end, we decided on Beacon Hill, Leicestershire, Leicester. Beacon Hill was lovely and quiet when we did the portraits which was great because we had a choice of the sections to Beacon Hill, we didn’t have to wait for people to walk past to take a shot – perfect! … continue reading
A few weeks ago, I had the pleasure of photographing Jill, Adrian and their two gorgeous grandsons. It has recently been both Jill and Adrian’s 70th birthday, so as a present for them their wonderful daughter Karen brought them a portrait family photography session to have with me. Karen currently lives in Ireland so she booked the session for them and was hoping to be able to make it to the viewing appointment. Jill got in touch so we booked in the portrait session and we booked in the viewing/ordering session appointment too, we worked it around Karen being back over, I didn’t want Karen to miss out on seeing the images.
Claire and Peter’s wedding … what an AMAZING day! I loved every minute of it. I photograph weddings for the whole day, so bridal preparation to the first dance. As s I entered Claire’s home in Cosby, Leicester I knew it was going to be a brilliant day. All the girls were happy and bubbly, some were already being pampered with having their hair or make-up done. I got to hear some funny stories from them all which was so nice to be a part of. There was one point when one bridesmaid was having her make-up done and I was sat next to the bride, I was taking photos and the bride took out her phone to take a selfie of the two of us. A selfie with a gorgeous bride what more could you want, everyone was so easy to get on with it which made my job so much more enjoyable. My couples tend to book me a year or more in advance, over that time I get to know them very well which is how my couples are extremely relaxed and comfortable with me when it comes to actually photographing their big day. So lots excitement in the house getting ready, drinks, then the mother of the bride puts on a little spread for a little bit of lunch before the ceremony. It was yum! Just some sandwiches, crisps, cocktail sausages that sorta thing but it was still great. With time ticking away everyone was still feeling ok, once the bridesmaids got into their dresses we had a little fun with photos, the funny faces of the girls were just brilliant.
I thought this week I would write about the comparison between booking a professional wedding photographer to capture your special day, to just leaving it to your wedding guests to hopefully get some nice and in focus images.
As a professional wedding photographer for six years now, I have seen and heard of some couples that didn’t have a professional wedding photographer. Couples would cut down the costs by not booking in with a professional and just have guests to take their images of their special day. Now I’m all for cutting costs for some things as I know just how much weddings can cost, but when it comes to your photographs from your wedding day – a day that you only tend to do once and once only the one thing I would want to be done right would be my pictures. I have been wanting to do a blog to show the comparison between booking a professional wedding photographer like myself to guests photos for so long but never had the chance until now.
Hey guys, this week its Nicola & Adam’s time to be on the blog
When Nicola & Adam booked me way over a year ago now to photograph their wedding day, I was completely over the moon. It was over a year to wait until the big day, but I knew that it’d soon come around. Most of my bride and grooms book me to photograph their wedding day at least a year in advance, I always tell them at the time it will soon come around. None of them actually believe me until our final meeting which is usually a month before, then they tell me that i’m right it’s soon come around.
A couple of weeks ago I met up with Vikki & Matt for their pre-wedding session, though they do have two beautiful little children so they came along too so we could do some family portraits at the same time. I love pre-wedding sessions, its the best way to get to know my bride and grooms before their wedding day.
I love it when I get to photograph my beautiful couples and their family, especially when you have such a stunning little girl who loves to pose in front of the camera as you can see below. It was a lovely session from start to finish, I always encourage my bride and grooms to bring their kids along to the session; it’s a great way for me to interact with them and understand them before the wedding day. Let’s face it what child is going to want to see a complete stranger on a wedding day and listen/do what they say all day? …. most likely none! This is why I love to see the children when I see the bride and groom at meetings, because they know who I am then when it comes to the big day. This also encourages natural smiles for them all because they are totally put at ease by time the weddings here.
The wedding of Carla & Nathan – what a beautiful wedding day it was!
Now usually on all of my weddings when I walk into the house where the beautiful bride is getting ready, the bride is actually sitting down having her hair or make-up started …. well this was NOT the case when I walked into Carla’s mothers home. I walked through into the kitchen where the hair was being done and everyone was gathered, the hairdresser was in fact my bride! I did have an attempt at telling her off but she insisted it helped to keep her calm. Carla had the girls from the hair salon that she owns to help and of course so they can do her hair, you can take a look at her Facebook page, link at the bottom. The morning getting ready was actually nice and chilled, everyone was chatting, listening to music and enjoying a drink I managed to photograph everything quite quickly as it was all downstairs awaiting for me to grab them. My bride was super organised … just in case you couldn’t already tell!
Portraits – are they just for families and children? No definitely not at all! Most of my clients that book in for a portrait session do book in for the family or just the children so they have memories to treasure for a lifetime, but this isn’t the case all of the time. Sometimes managers, executives etc need portraits or headshot’s for their online profiles. Other times other businesses need their portrait taken to showcase on an about page of their own website to really look professional.
