Hey guys, this week its Nicola & Adam’s time to be on the blog 🙂
When Nicola & Adam booked me way over a year ago now to photograph their wedding day, I was completely over the moon. It was over a year to wait until the big day, but I knew that it’d soon come around. Most of my bride and grooms book me to photograph their wedding day at least a year in advance, I always tell them at the time it will soon come around. None of them actually believe me until our final meeting which is usually a month before, then they tell me that i’m right it’s soon come around.
So Nicola and Adam booked me, time went on, we then booked in for their pre-wedding portrait session. I love pre-wedding sessions, these really help me to understand my bride and groom. It gives me an idea of just how they like to be photographed, it also helps me to really get to know my couples some more before their wedding day. We did the pre-wedding session, which was lovely for them because they didn’t have the kids with them, some nice time alone. The wedding soon came around, final consultation booked in and then the wedding day was upon us!
I photograph weddings from bridal preparations right through to the first dance so nothing is missed. I got to the mother of the bride’s house for the preparation, everyone so super relaxed and chilled. You wouldn’t have thought it was a wedding day. when you walked through the door. Nicola even said to me that ”I don’t feel like I’m getting married, I just feel like I’m going out on a night out.” Hair and make-up were happening in different rooms, still all extremely calm and relaxed. I wondered around and did all my shots, wedding dress detail, veil, flowers, hair & make-up being done and so on. When it came to having a place to hang the wedding dress, well there wasn’t anywhere. Thankfully father of the bride came to the rescue and hammered a nail into a beam in their home so I could hang the dress up. One extremely happy wedding photographer. Once bride was ready, I headed to the church, Hugglescote Church. Lots of guests already at the church awaiting the arrival of the stunning bride. The groom was looking handsome but yet very nervous. Everything was running smoothly, the bride arrived on time, the service was lovely. After that, we then headed outside for group photos and confetti. Soon done and dusted everyone then made their way over to the reception venue at Quorn Country Hotel. The hotel was beautifully set up when I arrived, which is when I then photographed all the details of the tables and decorations before the bride and groom arrived. Nicola and Adam soon arrived shortly after I photographed the room so we then did some photographs of them with the wedding car 🙂 I love having vintage cars at weddings! They make a lovely picture.
After that it finally came to FOOD!! Yay food. Well with what I saw they food looked lovely, I however had something quicker from the bar which was gorgeous too. Dinner time is a lovely time where people tend to calm down a little which is lovely for when it comes to the speeches straight after. The speeches were lovely, Nicola has two children and Adam has stepped up to being step dad and said about how much he loved them and his wife, it was just beautiful to listen too and see the emotion. After dinner and the speeches, it’s usually the down time so this is the perfect time for me to take my bride and groom out for their own portraits. The bride and groom portraits are extremely important, I always keep it just bride, groom and myself – no one else. This is the only time they generally get together other than the car ride over but not all weddings have that when they’re in just one venue. I am generally hiding or far enough away from the couple for them to have a conversation between themselves. When I took Nicola and Adam out right down near the river for their portraits, there was another bride and groom there as the venue did have another big room for another couple. So I had to ask on Nicola’s behalf if the two brides could have a photo together 🙂 We made great use of the grounds at Quorn Country Hotel, we got some gorgeous images of my bride and groom for their wedding album as you can see below 🙂 soon after father daughter dance, cutting of the wedding cake and then the bride and grooms first dance together came around – that’s when I could find my bride and groom, I find one then the other goes missing. Finally we got there, cake was cut and the dances were done. I believe shortly after the fish and chip van was available for everyone. Fish&Chip van is a perfect option at weddings, especially when some are drunk and apparently when you’re drunk you want greasy food. Unfortunately I didn’t stick around to have any, after the cake and dances were done I said my goodbyes and headed home 🙂 It was a brilliant wedding, one I’ll never forget.
Congratulations Mr & Mrs Hooper.
