Staffordshire and Leicester Wedding Photographer
Wedding Photography Lichfield
My aim this year is to keep up with blogging, both for weddings and portraits. So first – we can throw it back to the beautiful wedding of Sophie and Allen in 2019 at the beautiful St John’s House in Lichfield. A quarter of the way through the year already, crazy just how time flies.
Sophie and Allen booked me for a wedding consultation, after talking to them about their wedding day and what they planned for it they decided to book me to photograph their wedding day. It was a new venue to me too, close to the area I was moving to, so it was perfect. The wedding venue was St John’s House in Lichfield, a beautifully modern and yet simple wedding venue, with beautiful windows that let so much gorgeous natural light through. The bedrooms were stunning, modern, and elegant.
Sophie and Allen were so laid back, such a great couple who wanted nothing more than a beautiful and wonderful wedding day to remember for them and their family. I truly couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding day, I knew that had put a lot into it, planning every detail.
I have recently moved to Tamworth, Warwickshire/Staffordshire – oddly my address can be classed as either Warwickshire or Staffordshire. I am so lucky to have beautiful wedding venues around the area.
I can’t believe I am only just showing you this stunning wedding. The wedding day started so chilled, Sophie was getting ready at the venue, I always love when my clients get ready at the venue, which means I’m there and have lots to photograph within the build-up to the ceremony. Usually, I would get worried that I’m going to get stuck in traffic on the way, but with it being at one location, I’m there in plenty of time before the wedding ceremony. With one location, I can look around the wedding venue and see where the best places are for portraits, group shots, where is best to display the wedding dress and I get to see where the best lighting is coming from so I can give my clients the best wedding photos from their wonderful wedding day.
I love that St Johns House is a family-run venue, they love what they do and how they do it, the venue is beautifully taken care of, the food is cooked and displayed wonderful – I remember the pudding well, so cute in a teacup, with biscuits and flowers; pure beauty. Looked too good to eat, to be honest, but I was hungry and desperate to try it! Yummy – that is all!
Anyway – you’re here because you want to know more about Sophie and Allen’s wedding day celebrations. Okay – here goes.
Sophie, her mum, and her bridesmaids all got ready at the venue, a beautiful room, with a stunning bathroom suite which was massive and had lots of natural light – they got their hair and make-up done in the bathroom, now this bathroom had a sofa in, along with what I can only describe as a make-up bar, walk-in shower and a bath in the middle of the room. Honestly, it was the perfect room to get ready in. I left the girls to get ready and went into the bedroom to photograph the wedding dress. wedding shoes along with all the other little important pieces, then back to get the getting ready images. As the flowers and cake arrived I headed downstairs into the reception room to get the photographs of the room set up, Sophie and Allen had beautiful wedding favors – iced cookies with their initials on them, honestly, they looked so yummy, they even let me take one home with me. A couple of hours later Allen was arriving at the venue to get ready too along with his dad. I love when this happens, I was then able to get some images of the groom getting ready for his wedding day along with the blushing bride. More photos mean more to choose from in the wedding album, sorry to make it harder for you but I love capturing all the images for you to cherish.
Sophie had such a long aisle to walk into before getting into the ceremony room to meet her groom. The venue had a lovely small ceremony room though I say small, it seats a lot with beautiful seats. I remember Sophie and Allen’s wedding day so well – the weather was stunning, it was a gorgeous hot day, the sun shining so bright. Refreshments were needed after the wedding ceremony while waiting because of how beautiful the sun was. After the wonderful wedding ceremony and those special “I do’s” we headed outside for group shots. Group shots were carefully selected by the bride and groom, they didn’t want a long time standing and having photos with every person possible on the day – instead, they wanted the important photos. Photos that they without a doubt want to cherish forever and to look in their wedding album and see all the special family members smiling on their wonderful wedding day.
What I aim to do for all my wedding couples, I want you to have the images you want, the images you want in your wedding album, photos of the details, and everything that you spent money on making the day yours! Of course, I still try to work as naturally and documentary as possible because I feel it’s important for me and my clients that I capture the wedding day and your story as it unfolds.
After the wedding breakfast, I took Sophie and Allen off to Beacon Park in Lichfield. Luckily it was a five-minute walk, this is why we choose to do the couple portraits here as well as that it’s out the way of the wedding guests. Don’t get me wrong, I know you love them, I mean you wanted them to share this day with you – but you’ve had like maybe five-ish hours or more with them all already, you now want some alone time – just you and your new husband/wife! The couple portraits are what you want hanging up nice and big in your home and you will love to look at them all the time, just you and your new husband/wife. Sophie and Allen didn’t want to do the first dance. They booked an amazing swing / rat pack singer called Lee Osborne so everyone would get up and dance – because I find when you have a live band or musician everyone gets up and dances far more than if you just had a dj. Even though they didn’t want to do the typical ‘first dance’, Sophie and Allen still started dancing and I am so glad I was able to capture it for them. Thank you so much for reading, and a massive thank you to Sophie and Allen for booking me to capture their wedding day.
If you’re getting married and interested in a free consultation to chat about your wedding day and plans – get in touch. I can’t wait to hear from you.
See you soon,
Sophie, x
