Wedding & Portrait Photographer based in Leicestershire and across the UK.
I have finally got round to blogging about Julie and Nigel’s wedding which took place at Sketchley Grange hotel in September. of 2017. When I first met Julie and Nigel for their consultation before they booked me to be their wedding photographer I instantly loved them. Julie and Nigel are two of the most lovely people I have ever met, both were super excited about their wedding and quite rightly so. Though both older than most of my couples they were still tremendously young at heart. The wedding was to be a great reason for a huge family party.
I was extremely excited when they decided to book me to photograph their wedding day. Their wedding day and plans sounded amazing. I loved that they were having a live band rather than a DJ, I always feel that a live band makes a wedding much better, everyone gets up to dance rather than stay sitting down singing in their chairs. I loved every moment getting to know Julie and Nigel throughout the lead up to their wedding day, both big families, party animals – Nigel was life and soul of the party. After chatting some time to get to know them they told me how they both met on the Match dating website, after being together a couple of years Nigel proposed.
I knew from the moment of meeting them that this was going to be a magnificent wedding, not just the wedding, the day itself and the people invited to celebrate the marriage with them – I knew they were going to be wonderful people to meet. I can honestly say it was one of the most astounding weddings I have had the pleasure of photographing. Julie and Nigel are both laid back people which made my job much much more of a joy, in the getting ready I had never had a bride so quiet and chilled in all the years I have been photographing weddings. The day went so smoothly, nothing at all went wrong. The staff were brilliant, always checking on the couple making sure everything was ok. For the wedding ceremony, through the reception drinks and the wedding breakfast, Julie and Nigel had booked a wonderful duo guitar and violinist to play beautiful soft music throughout. Through the wedding ceremony, there were smiles and laughter from bride and groom. Unfortunately, after the wedding ceremony, it started raining! Grwwww, it had been lovely all morning and then the rain comes down when I wanted to get everyone outside for some group photos. Luckily we had room inside to do the group shots, we quickly got through them so everyone could get back their drinks and be seated for dinner.
After dinner, there is always a little bit of time before evening guests arrive, or the cake is cut so Julie and Nigel booked a magician to entertain the guests, I must say he was phenomenal! Seriously Tommy the magician was superb, none of the guests could quite understand just how he did ANY of the tricks. I had watched them a few times whilst getting shots of the guests reactions and I could not even say how he managed to do it. At one point he made a block of ice appear in a guests hand! I mean how does anyone even do that?! Before it got too dark I took Julie and Nigel outside for some bride and groom portraits. At this time it had stopped raining – luckily. The colours in the garden because it was autumn, the colours were just beautiful. Most of the day had gone by this time, all that was left was the live band to set up ready for everyone to really party and of course for the ultimate first dance.
Wishing Julie and Nigel all the love and happiness in the world. Congratulations to you both, can’t wait to see you both again soon.
